Gaining Wisdom through Experience
Before I dabble, unravel, and share my venture with you, my avid and curios reader, I’d like to share my greatest lesson I learned during the travel and process of leaving my very successful and structured job to follow my ultimate purpose and vision, with the echoes of Africa filtering through my body…
Listen to that whisper… you know, that sneaky voice that is calling you to do something greater for yourself, your soul, beyond the limits of what you have been trapped to believe to be the ‘norm’.
Follow your passion, and create your vision. This journey of being alive is more than getting a “job” for an income. Yes, finances are super relevant, but this is only to support a life-long process of growth and adventure. To be alive is to thrive, and to really live is the quest of our very own existence. Really, if you choose to embark on this kind of adventure and follow your soul calling, you’ll see what can be done, under the African sun, unlimited possibilities.
When you are willing to let go of fear, that voice inside your head that says you can’t, you will know where you’re supposed to go. Just trust and allow yourself to grow. Follow the path and even stray, for tomorrow is another day. It is then when you will be able to say, “I followed the voice that guides me true, the voice of me and not of you, a path that only little and few, have taken to see what could be new”.
From my own experience I have seen the immaculate power of following my intuition and the guidance of the Universal Spirit that pulls me to more of myself, when I let go, and flow. You are always where you need to be, and are always rewarded with your heart’s desires, if you choose to listen to that whisper. (Okay, sometimes one needs a loud roar when you ignore the whisper…)
Shucks, YES! There are most definitely 99.9% of the time – intense challenges, dark alleys, and moments of so-called defeat. Illusions of self-sabotage. Regret. Times you want to quit, give up, runaway, or crawl into fetal position. But that’s where your human Spirit and Umph comes in, the inner fire that needs to be sparked in order to drive you and grow you even further than you would have ever imagined.
Life is like the ocean water; waves that crunch and munch you, toss you about like a rag doll while you are sucked down under water where thought dissipates and all you have is that one moment, until she spits you out again. Yet we catch another wave, because ultimately we know, it's the ride that makes it worth it. Waiting to catch that barrel where she consumes you into her crystal green and blue hues of water as she curls over your head, taking in through colour the magnificent golden orange sunrise in the distance. It becomes a deep knowing that every moment is right now; it holds no ‘good’ or ‘bad’, only our perception of what’s good or bad.
Life’s journey is much like the Yin and Yang of life, and the high tides and low tides of the ocean. There is such a perfect balance in having ‘pain’ and ‘pleasure’. We need the struggle in order to grow. PAIN is our greatest teacher; we were just taught to fear it. Do not fear it. Embrace it. Because, whether you like it or not, falling and rising, struggle and triumph, pain and pleasure, momentary failure and accomplishment, all of it is a part of this game of life, constantly changing.
You see, ‘Video’ is made up of many ‘photos’ (pictures), which essentially are known as Frames Per Second (FPS). In one minute of a movie, you can have 25 frames per second (that’s just ONE SECOND!) now imagine a minute? An hour? 3 hours? A week? A month? A year?! Wow, thousands of frames per second.
Now let’s get deeper into the imagination…
So, 25 frames (FPS) are 25 photos. What are photos? Pictures? They are moments that you capture, where just one photo can tell an entire story in just one frame. Each second, is a moment of your life, some longer than others, some slower. Your choice.
To me, life is like a movie, where you are directing it. In this movie, we have many FPS, made up of all these moments; I see them as picture frames. 1 frame per second (FPS), 2 frames per second, 30 frames per second, maybe even 100 FPS, which are essentially the number of moments per second, where you are the decider of what moments they will be, and how long they will last, how you interact with them, how you capture them, but ultimately, each FPS is what makes up our own personal movies, the story of our Life, where you are writing the script, consciously or unconsciously. We can sometimes get so focused on one moment, freezing us in time, not realizing how it creates the next moment, allowing the flow of our story to grow… or not grow.
Through this metaphor I realized it is not so much the destination we should stay focused on, the ‘expected ending/outcome’ of a moment, but more the moment itself, the journey in the present, for it’s these little moments of Frames Per Second that create our ultimate story of who we are, these moments that we look back on with intense satisfaction or dissatisfaction… Those selected precious moments that we cherish for eternity… How do you live each moment? What do your own Frames Per Seconds comprise of? Do they hold regret or fulfillment?
This was the lesson I learned through my own journey of climbing up hills and down hills… Yes - emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. What an incredible view it was when I got to the top.
So come venture forth, barefoot and free, #watchthisspace and you will see, sunny side up, on how this experience came to be...and the Frames Per Second that make me, me.
