… Breaks! Reverse! Drive in.Horse trails! Hiking trails! Quad biking! Ziplining! White Water Tubing! Geckoing! Paintball! Mountain biking! You name it – they got it.
I introduced myself as calmly as I could – trying to contain my excitement in finding this Treasure Island. And after introducing myself, who I am and what I do, a barter was struck! In the end, we agreed upon me running their trails in an exchange for doing some photography and videography for them. This is where I get to join in on all the adventure! RAH! Best deal ever.
The chosen adventure? Geckoing. Never heard of this. My imagination could only reveal images of the Gecko like abilities of clinging to the ceilings. But wait and see… Such a surprise to me! Apparently, it’s about jumping off a 9-meter high rock-cliff? Can you Imagine… I will be freee!
Our guide was David, from Zim. A beautiful, friendly character, quick and witty, with a serious face, yet a soft and gentle smile. And of course, I was the only lady with 2 groups of men, those boisterous, highly energetic, and ridiculously humorous men. I was so entertained! And such a diversity of race too, which totally added to the laughter when we all started singing the national anthem while travelling up the trails in a large ‘cattle herding’ truck. At the top of the trails, I ventured down towards the snaking river, banana tube on my back, barefooted in the rain and mud! I was already in my element!
The afternoon progressed into an Epic adrenalin adventure with high rock jumping and insane water tubing, and a lot more stitches of laughter as the natural high of nature took over our endorphins. During the escapade down the winding river and rippling rapids on our super buoyant banana tubes, we stopped off at three different spots to do a total of three different jumps, all varying in height. And with the highest being 9m, it was free falling for sure! Some were happier with their feet on the ground. I, however, leapt at the opportunity to be jumping in mid air – with the safety of water to catch me at the bottom.
Let me just say, I have a silent, secret fear of heights, where the insides of my stomach twist and knot up just by climbing up a ladder… Hmmm, so when this opportunity presented itself to me, it was as simple as: No fear will stop me, I AM FREE, and I’m flying (well technically falling…), so I allowed myself to shift the fear into pure excitement of knowing – I’m jumping, no matter what, so I might as well do it with bravery and exhilaration, and embrace the thrill for all it has to offer.
It. Was. Epic. A newfound love of mine!
The power of the mind and how we choose to perceive external fears, or just even moments, is an extremely interesting topic. Especially when you are just starting to learn how to shift the way you think and feel about perceptual fears and your attitude towards circumstances. Back on the tubes, I find myself winding round and round, over baby rapids, spinning in circles, then spitting me back out.
It was one of the most fun-filled adventures I have yet experienced, and the combination of nature, the river and occasional fresh downpours of rain, with the tube riding, rapid gliding, cliff diving, rock jumping, and muddy trail walking – the entire experience was one to remember. But it wouldn’t be the same if not alongside some extremely wonderful companions. Our guides who took us along this voyage were phenomenal! We always felt safe and secure as they were super confident and knew exactly what they were doing. The tribe of boisterous boys laughing and joking around, squealing at times too, totally completed the experience.
Thank you Induna Adventures, I will forever highly recommend you to anyone looking for adventure, excitement, and fun!
Until our next adventure together,
